Details: Doyle Bramhall II (son of blues-rock musician Doyle Bramhall) hasn't released an album under his own name since 2001. For more than a decade, he worked as a producer, writing songs, and backing guitarists such as Eric Clapton, Roger Waters, Sheryl Crow, Elton John, and The Tedeschi Trucks Band, among others. Eric Clapton, with whom Doyle Bramhall II worked for more than a decade, cites Doyle Bramhall II as one of the most talented guitarists he has ever seen. Now Doyle Bramhall II returns as a solo artist. On Rich Man, he reveals himself as one of the most distinctive singers, guitarists, composers, and producers on the music scene today. The album reflects both his extensive experience with the artists he has worked with over the past 15 years, as well as an intense spiritual and musical journey that took him to India and Africa in search of new sounds and inner peace after the death of his legendary father Doyle Bramhall. Doyle Bramhall II says: I was constantly touring and producing for other artists, so I took a break from recording as a solo artist. All of these experiences helped me develop new skills, and I learned to craft my own sound. There is a lot in each song, and in the end, when it came to the order, I realized that these songs tell a story. It's hard to summarize 70 minutes of music in a few sentences because all of the songs are ambiguous, with parallels between collective experience and my own. Fundamentally, all of the songs are steps on a personal journey back to my truth, coming full circle from beginning to end. It's a very personal album for me.
