Details: Movieman.de REVIEW: Movieman's commentary on the DVD: You can tell this wasn't a big-budget production. The picture and sound quality are just "so-so," but you can also tell that little more could have been achieved without skyrocketing costs. The audio commentary by David Zucker, Robert Weiss, and Peter Tilden is subtitled and superb. It's great that they saved the original picture format in 16:9 and included English movie text. Image: The anamorphic transfer and the lack of denoising ensure above-average sharpness in this 13-year-old film. The downside, however, is the considerable image noise, which is particularly distracting in larger areas of color. The color saturation is a bit too dull, but the contrast range and compression are very well done. Overall, however, the noise lowers the overall rating to only average. Sound: The original mono sound was scaled up to 5.1 channels for the English version in the US. However, this was done purely mathematically. While stereophonic signals are heard in the music, the atmosphere itself remains monophonic, resonating evenly across all five main channels. The German version is a double mono track on the front channels. Speech intelligibility is somewhat clearer in the German version, but the English voices are drowned out by the backdrop. www.movieman.de Product description Her Majesty Elizabeth II of England is planning to grace the city of Los Angeles with a visit. It's naturally a catastrophe when the chairman of the reception committee is suspected of being a drug dealer and killer. Such a sensitive case simply calls for Lieutenant Frank Drebin of the LA Police Squad. He passionately throws himself into the investigation, leaving a trail of chaos and devastation in his wake. Purely by chance, he discovers that an assassination attempt on the Queen is being planned, but no one takes his warnings seriously. Frank is forced to take on the task of rescuing the Queen alone in a ludicrous mix of action, slapstick, and chaos. It seems almost impossible that anyone who comes close to Frank will survive the rescue attempt... Bonus material: Director's commentary;
