Details: Movieman.de The third installment in the Twilight Saga is unlikely to convince even those who turned away in horror from the first two films. This third installment is practically a mix of the same old stories, apart from the fact that Bella's wish to become a vampire is given greater emphasis. The only really new feature is that werewolves and vampires join forces to fight a common enemy. This culminates in an unfortunately somewhat short, but very dynamic action sequence, which most clearly shows the signature of director David Slade. Fans will be pleased that supporting characters like Jasper and Rosalie also get individual scenes in which they can shine. The distribution of material is definitely more balanced here. For those who are heartbroken, there are, of course, scenes to pine and worry about, as Bella is still torn between Edward and Jacob. It drifts a bit into kitsch at times, but is still somewhat enjoyable even for testosterone-fueled viewers. The ending concludes the storyline surrounding Victoria's thirst for revenge, has a tragic moment, introduces the Volturi, and hints at some more trouble to come with them in the next film. Conclusion: More for romantically inclined vampire fans, but coherent and a decent development of the story that continues the open storylines well. Movieman's commentary on the DVD: A specially created pre-release version was used for testing. Since the impressions described below may be due to intentional data reduction, this review should be considered preliminary until the final disc is tested. Clothing and natural impressions such as forests are powerfully saturated and brightly lit. Stylistically, this is perfectly acceptable for this genre, but in absolute terms, it's exaggerated. Faces, even in close-ups, are noticeably soft and barely show fine structures such as pores or stubble. At 08:42, the school's bricks are individually recognizable, but the block judder is also noticeable on the screen. This leads to a subjectively lower sharpness and a restless image impression. The contrast range is also not particularly detailed. In forest scenes (15.16), which were already color-reduced to leaden tones, almost no depth representation is discernible. Everything appears flat and two-dimensional. Black levels are also not particularly deep, but are a deep gray. The German and English audio sound very dynamic when things get serious. The growling of the beasts (16.00) is abysmal and very threatening. The soundtrack also indulges the listener with a variety of atmospheric effects, conjuring a profound spatial impression in the living room. The film disc includes two audio commentaries: a quite entertaining one by the main actors Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, and a second audio track by author Stephenie Meyer and producer Wyck Godfrey. Both commentaries are fully subtitled in German. A nice touch is the direct access to the "favorite scenes," sorted by actor or scene. There's also a six-part, feature-length making-of. Here, too, data reduction seems to have taken place, as the entire making-of is heavily interspersed with blocky text. Another highlight are the two deleted scenes (Life or Death 2.16 and What Do You Do Next? 1.00), both with an optional audio commentary by the director. Six additional scenes can be viewed in an extended version on Disc 2, also with optional commentary by director David Slade. --movieman.de Product description Seattle is hit by a series of brutal murders, and Bella is floating in Le
